Flight Operations

Strong wind handling Techniques

Well the cooler weather is on the way, so at next month’s meeting we’ll be covering winter operations. I’m looking forward to this month’s meeting on the 20th, and hearing about Leath Greenwood‘s experience in the military.

This month I wanted to send along an excellent article written by a dear friend of mine, Jack Proctor. Jack is currently an Air Canada Captain on the B787. Jack still teaches four days a month at Seneca College in Peterborough. Jack has had a class one instructor rating for the past 30 years. We were talking one day about strong wind handling and landing techniques that students and private pilots use. From our discussion, he wrote this article for the safety magazine for Seneca College. I hope you enjoy.

PDW Maintenance

It's Getting Cold Outside!

Hello everyone. Colder weather is upon us which means its time to cover the engine and plug in the heater as well. As always, take your time when warming PDW up, it will pay off in the long run.

We booked the annual for end of November and are expecting to get the Com 2 radio and fuel leak taken care of either before of after. Please understand that we may not have a lot of time slots to choose to from to fit those repairs in, so it may affect some of your bookings in November, but for November, maintenance will take priority.

Thanks to everyone for taking good care of the airplane and happy flying.

Events and Announcements

Hi Everyone! After what I hope was a great flying season for all, we’re ready to settle in to our tradition of monthly meetings to take us through the winter season. Our October meeting will be held on the 20th at 1000 in the Hangar Bar and Grill. Leath Greenwood will be doing a presentation on his years as an F18 pilot and Karen Howell will give a recap of the COPA for Kids event. Following the meeting those able to stay can gather in the dining room for lunch. Hope to see everyone there. The November meeting will be our annual winter ops seminar held on the 17th.
