News: Club CFS - where are you? The CMQ copy of the CFS is missing. It has probably been accidentally picked up. That copy should always remain with CMQ. Please check your kit and return it as soon as possible. |

Thanks to the efforts of Tom and Adrian, and the staff at Orillia Aviation, CMQ is back in service.

During the oil change today we discovered the bracket that one of the lower cowling cam locks secures to was broken. Flew CMQ to Orillia to have it repaired. It is unlikely to be finished before the weekend as Orillia probably has to order parts.

I've booked the flight to the Red Bull race in Windsor until 9:30pm because I don't know what the program is down there. It is quite likely that we'll be back even by 5 or 6 pm so if anybody is thinking about flying Sunday evening, please post a StandBy booking and leave me your cell number - I'll let you know when we leave Windsor giving you at least 2 hours notice. Thanks, Owen

Thanks to the maintenance team and all involved, for a very fast repair on the fuel tank, well done.
To prevent future damage to the tanks, it is required that you use the stair stand in Edenvale when refueling CMQ. When on the stand you can fill the tank holding the hose from above pointing the nozzle straight into the tank, avoiding resting the nozzle and supporting it on the side of the filler neck. When at away stations use a ladder if available, the last resort is climbing up on the strut. Happy flying.... Randy VanNess, Flight op's guy |

The fuel tank has been repaired and all that remains is for it to be re-installed in the plane. Pending any unforeseen problems, that should be done by the end of the day tomorrow (Wednesday).

CMQ will be out of service for at least a week while the starboard fuel tank is repaired. We took CMQ to Orillia to inspect the fuel tank expecting that we would have to replace a gasket. Well, the gasket needs replacing but there is also a crack in the tank itself.
Orillia Aviation is having the tank couriered to Alexson's in Mississauga to be welded. Once that is done Orillia will re-install the tank. Depending on how busy Alexson's is, it could be anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks before CMQ is returned to service. |
